The Mike Nichols Award for Inspiration
In 2015 Nichols established The Mike Nichols Award for Inspiration to honoue the legacy of its founder, Mike Nichols.
The award was presented in association with the Association for Project Management. The award attracted a high calibre of nominations over the years, highlighting some truly inspirational people and projects around the world.
In 2022, Nichols launched the Nichols Award. Whilst continuing to celebrate those who are creating positive change in the world, this independent award goes beyond recognition, it enhances the impact of inspirational winners. With £20,000 of prize money, winning The Nichols Award enables growth, extends reach and supports winners to go above and beyond.
The Winners
2020
The Mike Nichols Award for Inspiration was presented to Babcock’s Zephyr Plus Project Team. They designed, procured and assembled ventilators which played a critical role during the Covid-19 pandemic.
2019
The award was presented to two inspiring individuals. Loraine Martins MBE, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Network Rail, and Michèle Dix CBE, Managing Director of Crossrail 2 are both visionary leaders in their respective fields.
2018
The award was presented to the Cumbrian Infrastructure Recovery Programme in recognition of its innovative approach to programme delivery following Storm Desmond.
2017
The award was given to two inspirational pioneers who made significant contributions to their respective organisations, Khadijah Abdullah and the Malaysian Education Performance and Delivery Unit, and Nurjahan Khatun and the I Dare U Foundation.
2016
The Award was presented to Nottingham City Council for their Good to Great Transformation programme. The programme delivered budget reductions, improved quality, provided protection for frontline services and enabled Nottingham to thrive as a city.
2015
The inaugural award was awarded to Cambridge Education’s Lower Secondary Curriculum, Assessment and Examination Reform Programme for their contribution to and reformation of the education system in Uganda.
